Matt is a medical student pursuing a career in Family Medicine(see below for details). I was born in the cradle of the Rocky Mountains and studied Nutritional Science as an undergraduate. I did research in social psychology, so my interests are very diverse, and that's what keeps life so interesting. I'm very passionate about the subjects I write about. I'm passionate about health, but maybe not in the sense you're thinking. I'm talking about overall health: mind, body, spirit health. If you stick around long enough you'll see what I mean, and I hope you do. I like to think I'm the kind of person you could grab a lemonade with and sit on the front porch talking for hours.
The term Family Medicine can be a little deceiving and quite underwhelming, so please let me explain. When I tell people I'm going in to family medicine I often get a blank stare back, so I understand that the term is not very descriptive. Family Medicine in a specialty just like Internal Medicine, Radiology, and Surgery. The big difference for me is that Family Medicine allows me to follow all of my passions including families, nutrition, sports nutrition, mental health (depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar, eating disorders), global health (diseases of poverty, international nutrition, international maternal/fetal health), community health (healthcare for the poor/uninsured, community outreach/involvement), sports medicine (particularly adolescents and those new to exercise) and interpersonal communication(The Arbinger Institute).
Please stick around and make a comment. I'd love to hear form you.
